Watercolor washes over an alpine lake, thick impasto sunflowers, ink wash koi, charcoal, coloured pencil and oil. These are new images made in the manner of each medium, and none is a reproduction of an existing painting.

A calendar as wall art

A large full-year sheet can stand in for a print. Let the painting fill the page in poster proportions, and gather the months in a panel along one edge so that the art stays whole.

Choosing paper

Soft washes can vanish on bright copier paper, while dark oils use plenty of ink. A matte, slightly warm stock suits both, and the printing guide covers scaling so that the edges are not clipped.
