Impasto

Impasto style calendar for 2027

Impasto means paint laid on so thickly that the strokes stand up from the surface. Sunflower Impasto, the single artwork behind every edition here, imitates that with heavy yellow petals and a cobalt courtyard wall.

7 finished calendars, all using one original artwork: Sunflower Impasto. They are editions of the same picture, with different dates or languages, and each listing says which it is.

A picture of texture, not texture itself

A print is flat, so the ridges you see are only light and shadow in the image, and your fingertips will find nothing. The illusion holds best on a matte sheet, where a shiny surface does not give the game away. It also looks better from a few steps back than up close.

Working with a square composition

The art is 1:1, which suits a square frame or a sheet trimmed to size. Twelve round date islands are scattered over the flowers, so the full-year edition covers the most paint. If the sunflowers are the reason you chose it, a single-month or two-month edition shows more of them.
