Woodcut

Woodcut-inspired calendar for 2027

Night City Tall is the one artwork on this page, and it is a loose take on the technique. Its curling clouds and flat moon recall Japanese woodblock prints, while the glowing lanterns and wet stone steps have far more fine detail and soft light than carved blocks usually give.

7 finished calendars, all using one original artwork: Night City Tall. They are editions of the same picture, with different dates or languages, and each listing says which it is.

What to expect from the woodcut label

A traditional woodcut is carved along the grain of a plank, with one block for each colour, so its tones are flat and its edges firm. If that is what you are after, look at the linocut design as well, which is much closer to a real relief print. Choose this one for its atmosphere.

Printing a tall, dark sheet

At 9:16 this suits a narrow wall, the side of a cupboard or a door. On A4 it will have margins, so trim the sheet or print it at a shop on a longer size. The night sky takes a lot of ink, and a gradient keeps the months readable along the left while leaving the stairway clear.
